Student Safety
99math OÜ
Most people who play 99math are children, so we design every part of it around that. This page explains, in plain language, what students share with us, what other players can see, and how teachers and parents stay in control. The full detail is in our Data Security and Privacy Plan.
Students share very little
When a student signs up with a username, we ask for a first name, the first letter of their last name, a country, a password and an approximate grade or age. We never ask a student for a full last name, a phone number or a home address, and nothing in the game invites them to type one in.
When a teacher creates student accounts for a class, the teacher enters the names and the students simply log in.
What other players can see
Other players see only a student's player name, country, team name if they joined one, level and badges. They never see a student's real name, username or school.
Every player name is checked for profanity and inappropriate words before other players can see it. Only the player name is sent for this check.
Students cannot send typed messages to each other inside 99math.
No ads, no selling, no profiling
We do not sell student data. We do not show third-party ads, and advertising and marketing tags are not loaded when a student is playing. We do not use student data to train AI, and no AI feature is offered to students.
Teachers and parents are in control
- A teacher links students to a class with a class code and sees their progress, mistakes and effort.
- A parent links to their child's account and sees the same progress at home.
- A linked teacher or parent can reset a student's password.
- Schools can ask us to delete their students' data at any time by writing to legal@99math.com.
Paid content stays out of the classroom
99math is free for schools and teachers, and nothing paid is needed in class. Paid content is never offered during a teacher-hosted game or teacher-assigned practice. A student playing at home may see that some content is part of a paid plan. Before any price is shown, the student is asked to involve a parent.
Data is kept only as long as it is needed
- Student accounts unused for 24 months are deleted.
- Individual game records are deleted two years after the game is played.
- Home assignments are deleted after 90 days.
Data is protected and stored in the US
Student data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and stored in the United States. Only staff who need access for their work can reach it, and every person at 99math completes student data privacy training each year. If student data is ever exposed, we notify the affected school within 24 hours.
Raise a concern
If you see a player name or anything else in 99math that should not be there, or you have any question about a student's safety or data, write to legal@99math.com. Teachers and parents can also ask us to see, correct or delete a student's data at the same address.
